Town Profile

img5Located along the beautiful Namibian coast, north of nearby Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, Henties Bay with its mild climate and long stretches of unspoilt beaches is indeed the ideal setting for leisurely holiday with long walks, sunbathing or just a few days rest.

With a peaceful rustic atmosphere and unique picturesque surroundings, the town is endowed with comfortable temperatures (15? to 25?C) throughout the year, due to the natural air conditioning that is provided by the prevailing cold Benguela ocean current system. Henties Bay is located within an hour?s drive from Walvis-Bay, and also within a half hour drive from Swakopmund, which is reachable from Johannesburg by air, and from Windhoek (Namibia?s capital) by air, by rail, and by road. The town is located within the National West coast Recreation Area, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism. However, Henties Bay town and town lands has been excluded from the National West Recreation area, in order for the establishment and operation of the local authority area of the Municipality of Henties Bay. Being located in a dry environment, Henties Bay town did not attract big human settlements, or big industrial establishments. Hence the town boasts of being in a pristine environment that is virtually pollution-free, an attractive functional town with all key working facilities (including phone, fax, and internet connectivity)
